Too bad they actually gave the diet credibility when they said, "nutrionists assure us the diet information we provided was accurate, ...". So, while they apologized for promoting "Kimmer", they don't apologize for promoting an dangerously deficient diet.
Perhaps they have reason to believe they were likely to be held liable in the course of the pending litigation.
They won't be getting any big thank you from me, I'm afraid.
Agreed. But as the diet info they provided really had nothing to do with either Kimmer or Christin, and runs 1200 calories, at least they're not sue-worthy for providing an anorexia diet. All they're apologising for is not verifying Kim Drake's story. As if that isn't enough!
Though I'm glad they're taking some form of action, I'm not all that impressed. The site the apology is on isn't connected to a site for the magazine. It doesn't even come up in a Google search so the chance of your average WW reader coming across it isn't likely. I may change my mind once I see how it's published in the March 4th edition.
I am late to this party as I never heard or kimkins until recently .. and thank GOD! because I may have been desperate enough to try it. Fortunately, I just found the kimkins site a few days ago and decided to do some research to see if I should spend the $79.95 she is now charging which is how I found this and other sites exposing the kimmer scam.
I don't understand how her site is still up. This scam is not just about greed or dishonesty, this is reckless, possibly criminally negligent behavior! She put people's lives at risk for crying out loud!
It's surprising - I never did the diet but reading everyone's story I feel emotionally invested. My heart goes out to everyone who has been taken in by this. I hope that something positive comes out of this for all of you. And I want to thank everyone who continues to expose this scam for people like me who may still succumb to it otherwise.
As for this Heidi/Kimmer person, she will get her comeuppance. I have no doubt of it.
It's a weird apology. They are sorry Kim Drake lied. They don't assume any responsibility for their endorsement of the plan, for the people who lost money because of that endorsement, for the people whose health was damaged by the plan because of that endorsement, and for their chronic support of crash diets in general. "Your trust means everything to us." OhYeahRIGHT! Smells like a butt-covering act to me. OYB My blog: Kimorexia

WOW. That is huge. We're gonna send them a thank you note and hope everybody else who's been nagging them for months now will do the same.
Way to go, everybody who sent those emails to the magazine -- you guys are a force to be reckoned with!
Duck Power!
this is great news I too blogged about it and need a link to yours now
thanks Marisol

Prudentia, I totally agree with you.
